Chairs Free

We are giving away some of our old folding chairs. They are behind the church by the mail box. Please take some. Please take all of them!

Alone

As Christians, and more specifically as pastors, we tend to be really social people. We love being with others. However, the Scripture places a high value on being alone a proper amount of time. I think it is safe to say that we need time alone with God every day. Occasionally, we need extended times of being alone. I mean, focused, specific, alone time with God.

When we pray, we should be alone with God, not only praying together in agreement. Moses was alone with God for 40 years in the desert, Jesus was alone for 40 days and nights in prayer and fasting before he entered ministry. Joseph and Jeremiah were alone with God in their pits of trouble. David was often alone as he escaped from Saul.

If you are always with people, I encourage you to get creative, and remain responsible, and make time to be alone with God. Then you will be full of God's presence to bless others that you will spend time with today.

8 families

In the summer of 2010, we are focusing our double portion results on gaining 8 new households. They may be single homes, families, or empty nests, so there is not a real specific number attributed to this.

So far, since last month and the start of this summer drive we have added three homes! We have also added a few people we have not seen in a long time!

Praise God with me today and let's keep up the full court press and build the kingdom of God.

Relay for Life

We need help with the camp site for Friday night. There will be a meeting at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, to get the final stuff assigned and done right. This is a huge deal and needs to be some great PR for our church. Please help. Call Allyson or me for more info.

Weekend Rewind

This was a super busy weekend. By Sunday noon I was beat!

We had a great Royal Ranger camp out. Ben and Gabe had their first ever official baseball practice (neat), and church was great.

At the end of worship in the first service I was left with a huge remaining hunger for more of God and greater contact with him. That was really disturbing to me, considering that I felt that disconnect through the last three songs. Isaiah chastises the people of God by quoting a complaint from God, "You have not wearied yourselves for me." God is gracious and we don't earn anything with him. But, if your spouse, children, or friends never expend any energy on you, don't you wonder if they really love you? It was great to spend some extra time at the end of worship seeking God in first service.

Second service was great. We had a lot of visitors in the last two weeks. If you are a regular, keep your eyes open for new friends in the next few weeks. Special thanks to Rich Langenberg for running the PowerPoint for me.
