How Will We Live Then?

I hav entered a contest to sell copies of the book, "How Will We Live Then" It is a book that descirbes what the believer will experience in their future according to Bible prophecy. Most Bible prophecy teaching focuses on the horrible events on earth described in Revelation. What most Believers ask me about is, "What happens to me and to loved ones who know Jesus after we die?" This book answers these questions.

I encourage you to get the book, read it and even send me feed back. I am receiving feedback now so that I can update and revise the book in the future. God can powerfully use this book to motivate believers to be holy and to serve! With some expansion and revision, it can be even more effective.

Long Time Gone

It has been a while since I posted. Since Camp things have been very busy.

I want to thank all the people who helped with the fair parade and float. I was really thankful for Tim Willard's help in building, Jonas and Brent playing, Pastor John assisting so much, and for an excellent group of people who walked with the float on a really hot day.

We are taking a lot of time to prepare for the fall Small Group semester. I am very excited about the mission weekend, September 5, and our campaign starting September 12. If you are not in a Small Group and want to get involved let me know.

Blessings to you!

We puled off a 180 successfull, but wrecked on the other two atempts. The kids are really doing great at altar times. One student was filled with the Holy Spirit and several others have really been touched.
Be back Fridat around 3:00 I think.

Classic Rock

I am very excited about this Sunday's message in our series Classic Rock. I will be covering the fourth and fifth commandments. You may have never noticed it before, but the fourth and fifth commandments have one very important similarity. That one similarity teaches us a little about how we should look a the other commandments that pertain to God's blessings on society, and our personal relationships. That little similairty will however, open up the motherload of additional meanding for the other commandments.

Tuesday at Camp

We are having a great day at camp! I will be leaving to blob the boys in a few minutes. I hope to get some great video at the water front.
I will be posting other photos. However, since the the blog links to Facebook I will not post closeup face pictures of our kids. Each blog entry is a Facebook note on my Facebook page. If you want close up pictures of your kids this week let me know by text or face book message and I will include them on the blog. I am just trying to be careful with the internet.

Classic Rock

This Sunday we will begin looking at the Ten Commandments. It may seem simple to some of you. However, most people need teaching on what things are moral and what things are immoral. In our nation today many people have totally lost their moral bearings. I know because I talk to people and counsel them and I see it over and over.

It is amazing what people will suggest as solutions to some of their life problems that are not moral courses of action. They may be common solutions in our culture, but that does not make those solutions morally acceptable in Bible standards. Like your mother used to say, just because everyone else is doing it, does not make it right. In the same way, just because a way of living is socially common or legally acceptable does not make it Biblically moral.

My challenge to the church is this, can you pray for a real attitude of repentance to prepare your heart for what you are about to learn? Can you start now to prepare your heart to be changed by these messages? Will that heart change result in changed actions? Honestly, we can be so proud as church going people that I can imagine that some Sunday messages in this series will be completely rationalized away or ignored in complacency! I have no intention of preaching this series for nothing!

I also believe that this series will be invaluable for visitors and those new to our church or to a relationship with Christ. We need forgiveness of our past sins, but we need moral teaching to not repeat them again. We need moral teaching to realize that God forgave our past and in much of our past we did not even realize that we were sinning.

Don't miss these messages. We are going to work very hard to make sure that each one is posted on the web page audio player. If you are out for vacation or a family event, catch up by listening to or downloading the podcast.

Classic Rock

Sunday we started our series, "Classic Rock Top Ten." For the next seven weeks we will be looking at the ten commandments.

Our first message focused on Exodus 19:1-9. In this part of the story we find that the people of Israel committed themselves to following the Lord's commands before the commands had been given! God made a covenant, or a deal with the people. You follow my commands and I will be your king. What are the commands? Well, they had not heard them yet. God had saved them out of Egypt, where they were slaves, so they knew God was on their side.

Can we commit ourselves to the Lord and obeying his commands as we re-learn them? Some of the things that we learn from the Classic Rock series may require real life change. Can we commit to that God-led change even when we don't yet know what he may point out?

Chairs Free

We are giving away some of our old folding chairs. They are behind the church by the mail box. Please take some. Please take all of them!

Alone

As Christians, and more specifically as pastors, we tend to be really social people. We love being with others. However, the Scripture places a high value on being alone a proper amount of time. I think it is safe to say that we need time alone with God every day. Occasionally, we need extended times of being alone. I mean, focused, specific, alone time with God.

When we pray, we should be alone with God, not only praying together in agreement. Moses was alone with God for 40 years in the desert, Jesus was alone for 40 days and nights in prayer and fasting before he entered ministry. Joseph and Jeremiah were alone with God in their pits of trouble. David was often alone as he escaped from Saul.

If you are always with people, I encourage you to get creative, and remain responsible, and make time to be alone with God. Then you will be full of God's presence to bless others that you will spend time with today.

8 families

In the summer of 2010, we are focusing our double portion results on gaining 8 new households. They may be single homes, families, or empty nests, so there is not a real specific number attributed to this.

So far, since last month and the start of this summer drive we have added three homes! We have also added a few people we have not seen in a long time!

Praise God with me today and let's keep up the full court press and build the kingdom of God.

Relay for Life

We need help with the camp site for Friday night. There will be a meeting at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, to get the final stuff assigned and done right. This is a huge deal and needs to be some great PR for our church. Please help. Call Allyson or me for more info.

Weekend Rewind

This was a super busy weekend. By Sunday noon I was beat!

We had a great Royal Ranger camp out. Ben and Gabe had their first ever official baseball practice (neat), and church was great.

At the end of worship in the first service I was left with a huge remaining hunger for more of God and greater contact with him. That was really disturbing to me, considering that I felt that disconnect through the last three songs. Isaiah chastises the people of God by quoting a complaint from God, "You have not wearied yourselves for me." God is gracious and we don't earn anything with him. But, if your spouse, children, or friends never expend any energy on you, don't you wonder if they really love you? It was great to spend some extra time at the end of worship seeking God in first service.

Second service was great. We had a lot of visitors in the last two weeks. If you are a regular, keep your eyes open for new friends in the next few weeks. Special thanks to Rich Langenberg for running the PowerPoint for me.
