What was the first sin in the Bible? We generally think of Adam and Eve together by some fruit tree. We see a talking snake hanging from a branch enticing Eve to take a bite. Then she gives it to her husband who does the same together with her.
Though touching the tree and/or eating the fruit may be the first sin, it was not the first mistake. A few mistakes that took place prior to the "sin." Were these mistakes sin also? Maybe not legally, but it is something to think about. Consider these mistakes. Satan encouraged the couple to doubt God's intentions, doubt his word, and doubt the consequences. Doubt of these things usually lead to sin.
But men, let's just think about Adam for a moment. This lying snake creeps up on his wife and starts blurting out lies and total junk. What did Adam do? Nothing. Hind-sight is 20/20! For the rest of Adam's life I bet he thought, "I should have yanked that creepy beast from that wicked tree and squeezed his head off! I should have stepped up and shouted, 'You are not going to talk to my wife like that!'"
Men, let's learn a lesson from Adam's lack of defense for his wife and future family. When the lies of Satan sneak into your house and your family, see them for the creepy things they are. Be loving, but be firm and remain resolved. Take action. Defend your family from the lies of Satan that are being pressed upon us in entertainment, on social media, from friends in the community, and from any other source in this world.
Eating the forbidden fruit may have been legally the first sin, but not defending his wife from Satan was the first mistake.
